Good afternoon! It's been a good morning but this is being written in the afternoon.
Went to Plastic Wax in Bristol. Saw "Dindisc DIN 2 - a Factory Records product" version of "Electricity". I bought it and it's appalling *. Also a German 7" "Trans Europa Express". I also bought some jelly beans, chewing nuts and a small pack of Milk Gums. **
Oh dear. All five songs (out of ten tracks) on "Radioactivity", "Diamond diary" by Tangerine Dream, "Love and violence", "All wrapped up" and "Sensoria" remind me of Rachel. Rather unfortunate really.
Dad bought me an Xmas present at Bristol record fair but I haven't got a clue what it is. That's the whole idea.
Oh and at Plastic Wax, "DEP 2 live tapes '78" for £1.50 ***. Also "Doot doot" picture disc.
We went to an Italian restaurant and I had "Fried rice with prawns, peas and tomato sauce" **** For decoration it has four whole prawns in their shells. I didn't realise this and ate one prawn whole, shell and all. I've gone off prawns for a while.
I made my first copy of my original Bk 11 (with excerpts from Bk 12) tape for Rachel or Howard. They are recorded on Open University lecture tapes and I recorded the phrase "varieties of small potatoes" onto another tape. I'm making Newton's tape at the moment. He has so far got me on guitar and feedback, "White trash" by OMD and messing around with radios. See "OMD / Various" tape between "Her body and her soul" and "Orchestral" ***** Now he's getting my "punk" version of "You say", it might as well be an instrumental for all I care. He had a bit of a Brud / Rob practice session with cassette feedback. He's also got me sneezing twice.
My "selling copy" will be the first copy played on my old mono player barely audible in the distance. I will claim that the diary is there because it is, just it's in the background so you have to turn up the volume.
Yesterday ("all my troubles seemed so far away") Lesley and Caitlin got hold of my rough book containing some of my poems. They liked them!
"Industrial Beat Music" tapes list.
IBM T1 - Robert Morgan. This tape contains 6 or 7 songs, mostly instrumentals, and shows his early "electronic" works. ******
IBM T2. Robert Morgan. A tape of his Bk 11 and Bk 12 diaries, also includes four songs from his "Love / Hate" series *******
IBM T3. Robert Morgan. A messed up attempt at Avant Garde experimentation
IBM T4. Robert Morgan. "For sale". An ambient - ie background - version of IBM T2. The only tape for sale.
IBM T5. Robert Morgan. "Dance". A cassette of, on one side, the "Love and hate" series and on the other, reworkings of some of IBM T1 and more!
Can you wait? I've made T1 to T3 (2 is for Rachel, 3 is for Newton). IBM T5 is in the pipeline because I'll need more tapes to reduce ponderous C90s to snappy 3 minute pop tunes. I have never written a 3 minute pop tune in my life ******** When they are three minutes long they aren't pop tunes. When they are pop tunes they're 15 minutes long. Ha!
Huw Thomas wanted to know how I knew about his band "The Warsaw Pakt" - I told him he can't use the name as it's taken already - and I told him that Alison told me. Does he want a keyboard player / songwriter? Probably not.
In a music shop in Bath today I saw a Moog Opus 3. Great synth. Love to buy one.
I could make a great video for "All wrapped up".

Footnotes
* Er, wrong opinion. Just I wasn't expecting the Martin Hannett mix. £2, you know.
** Milk gums. Like wine gums but milk. Now more commonly known as Milk Bottles. Not milk chews, those are something else.
*** The free four song EP which came with early copies of "Organisation" by OMD.
**** Sounds vile
***** This is a reference to a TDK tape I made in the spring of 84. There's a piece of random noise making and radio playing on there which you can listen to here. Note, it's not very good.
****** Hahahahahahahahahahahaha "electronic works" hahahahahahahahah fuck me I had a Casio MT-45! Hahahahahahahaha
******* These songs are "Embarrassing situation", "The way we were", "Fond regards to the bitter end" and... Fuck knows. Maybe "You say" seeing as I keep talking about it?
******** WRONG! By this point I'd already written "Lovesick"
