"The return of Deborah Carr". Mary phoned Debbie yesterday and apparently Debbie is sending me a Christmas card. I suddenly feel that I can't be cruel to her so I'll write her a letter. *

Lesley has got IBM T2.

Mumford still wants to join my band. Newton wants to be a banker, the next Liberal Prime Minister and manager of my apparent band **. Newton and I want to get drunk after the exams.

Bev is getting at everyone for swearing. She'd have a fit on my tape. I wonder what Lesley will think of it. ***

Newton says "Cathy's Clown" by The Everly Brothers could be about me, Rachel and Kinny. Really?

-------

If ever I do form an apparent band, all the members would have to take my orders unless they could write songs. I've told Newton to look for a singer / lyricist so he hopefully won't go to Rachel. Why am I so obsessed with her?

--------

First exam tomorrow - English language. Should be fun. Actually I don't feel at all confident about these exams (I told Howard I'm in an advanced state of panic). **** By this time exams are usually over. Oh well that's Bartlett for you.

Girls again. To dispel the rumours that I fancy Jackie and Alison I walked quite far ahead of them on the way home. *****

The piles of presents for Christmas - had a card off Bev! - is getting larger. I haven't got a clue about most of them. I reckon one of them is a book. How perceptive!

I bought a Stanwell School Christmas card. Horrible little thing. Who can I send it to? It's not worth the 6p I spent on it.

Footnotes

* Correction - I DID receive a Christmas card from Debbie about a week later. I also received a mysterious unsigned Valentines card the following year. I may well still have them.

** He didn't get any of these jobs.

*** It has just struck me that Lesley had this tape for quite a while. She organised the "listening party" in the German lesson a month or so later. She also had it on her when we were on the German exchange in July 85 because I remember other pupils saying they'd heard her playing the tape. I bet she doesn't have it now.

**** Maybe if I had spent more time working and less time mooning over Rachel / writing in my diary / recording my debut album I would have been less worried about the exams. Because they were a bit more important at the time. Even though I can't remember anything from any exams but I can remember mooning over Rachel / writing in my diary / recording my debut album..

***** Yeah that'll really dispel the rumours. Good work Rob.
