Good and bad news.

We welcome back into our ranks Bk 10, which has been away for some time. Good old Bk 10 *

The great controversy with my diary has died down. The great controversy with Jackie Whitehouse and me has risen its ugly head and the bastard won't go away.

Before school I walked to the wall where Bev, Alison and Rachel were. Bev says something about Jackie so I ignore her. When Luty, Howard and Newton have made their respective entrances (what IS this crap??) Jackie appears on the other side of the road. Bev shouts "There's Jackie Whitehouse!" And I shout "Shut up!" Everyone says "Why? Do you fancy her?" - including Rachel - and I reply "No comment". Rachel says "I'll go and tell her" but she doesn't.

Everyone got at me throughout the day about Jackie.

On the way home, Jackie's behind us (Bev, me, Jez Hall, Spillers, Luty, Needham) and Bev says "Well look who it is!" And Jackie starts bashing her. **

And now the other bad news. Castle caught me mitching. Enough said! ***

I'm in another state of "Nothing works" because my TV's bust and my cassette player is playing up.

I am doing revision! Physics at the moment. Anyway all my Powell books remind me of Debbie. Maybe I spent all his lessons looking at her. Maybe that's why I had terrible marks. ****

Footnotes

* This was one of the books that was fought over one lunchtime in October. Howard nabbed it and looked after it until all the fuss had stopped. Howard was trustworthy, you know.

** This looks so bloody innocent from this distance but it meant a huge amount at the time.

*** "Mitching" is the South Wales version of "bunking off", playing truant basically. This requires more than a footnote. There's a hidden Goldfish post about my relationship with PE in Stanwell you can read here. TL:DR - I never did PE, for PE lessons in this year I sat in the empty school nurse's room in the middle block. Only nobody checked on me. So I'd go home early. Or with it being PE last double lesson on Monday afternoons, I'd leave school, catch a train to Cardiff, buy new records then get home at the time I should be home normally. Only on this occasion Mr Castle - the PE teacher - caught me walking out of the school gate at 2pm. Hence a bollocking and back to the nurses office for a few more weeks. Also explains why I didn't buy "Fried" on the release date - because I didn't get to Cardiff.

**** There is some truth in this.
