Title for entry - "Robert Morgan Dies"
God I'm glad to be alive. More on that later.
Not much happened in school as usual. I hadn't done some homework and thought I'd get killed for it. Hence the title.
As usual, saw Rachel, as usual, with Kinny, as usual, arm in arm around school.
While on the subject of school, the rumour about me fancying Alison is spreading. I have denied it because I don't fancy her and I know she doesn't fancy me. I think it was started by Jeremy Hall.*
Now to the main topic.
Going home from school I was walking with Jez Hall, Mumford and Cooper. When we came to cross Victoria Road I stopped and the others ran across the road. I shouted "Trying to get run over, are you?" I then looked around and ran across but didn't see a car coming from my right. It braked hard, blew its horn and I only just dodged it. "Bloody hell, I survived" I think to myself. According to witnesses - the above people - it was only a few inches from me. I looked back at the car and the drivers window opened and a woman shouted out "You stupid twerp!" I said "Sorry" quietly. I've just about recovered now. I was really scared and I thank everyone for telling me how close I came to being splattered on the road **

Enough of that!
My glasses shaded over at break time and I wandered around in total darkness. Two comments from first formers:
1 - "Hey! Cool, man!"
2 - "It's Stevie Wonder!"
The second comment has been picked up by Cooper and is now being used as a nick name for me. People burst into "I just called to say I love you" and ask me to sing along.*** I decline because I can't. Anyone who's heard IBM T2 will know that.

Why are there thousands of rumours about me?
I told Bev that I would write to Debbie and she didn't believe me! I will! ****
My play is changing. It will have a happy ending. Main plot - I fall for Debbie, she leaves. I fall for Rachel, Rachel falls for Kinny, Rachel finds that Kinny is two timing her for - um - Lesley and Rachel and I live happily ever after. Could be interesting but I might change the character names to avoid anybody (Kinny) getting annoyed. Pity it will never come to be.
I read Bks 4 and 5 last night. 5 is far superior and it reminds me of Debbie, especially the nine page entry (21st June?) *****
"Eight days a week" - Beatles, "Here she comes now" - Velvet Underground, "Starstruck" - Kinks - all remind me of my "beloved" ******
Perfect Vision AND Hard Corps live on Peelie tonight! *******
I have been "asked" by Newton to take a diary to school. After all the rumours he's been spreading he can get stuffed.

Footnotes
* Jesus H, Alison? Really? We were friends and almost neighbours. That's it.
** Oddly enough I never told my family about this.
*** This would continue off and on for a few years. When I became keyboard player in Final Ecstasy in 1985, the other members heard about it and rushed over to our house, concerned that I was actually blind.
**** Spoiler alert - I did but not in November. And she wrote back.
***** No, me neither.
****** Yeah I'm listening to that tape of my brother's record collection again
******* Recorded on the other side of the "OMD Live" tape, a TDK C120. Still in my collection but so delicate I dare not play it. Perfect Vision were brilliant, Hard Corps were a bit weak and even Peel mentioned it.
