A large outcry about the deletion of my diary from almost all sides - except Rachel, who is probably silently glad that I'll stop. That's where you're wrong, my dear. Stanwell school may think my life in words comes to a grinding halt on December 4th but I know it isn't. *

I hate Lesley. She said to me after History "You make me puke" which is what I would expect from her. Then she asks me in Physics for a book of my diary. Fuck off!

I am working on a third verse for "Fond regards..." **

Music world eruptions. Holey wants to buy a guitar. That could rule him out of any possible band I form. *** Brud's band are getting together again on Saturday so I'll do my tape technician bit. Should be good for a laugh.

Neil Walker said he had read one of my earlier diaries (bk 4 by my reckoning) and said on every page there was a mention of Debbie and an OMD lyric. Quite true!

I'm having a packed lunch tomorrow**** cos Haggy is giving us a lunch time lesson. I hate her, you know.

I'll write another true love song soon. I'm getting batteries for my synth***** on Friday so I'll record "I don't want to hold your hand". ******

Footnotes

* December 4th? That's a very arbitrary date. Turns out that 4th December was the day the diary started in 1982. The diary would continue in paper form until April 1989. A word processed version would exist from December 1991 to the middle of 1995. Due to disc corruption and using out of date software, only three months from the middle of 1993 exist. They're fascinating too.

** Never wrote it.

*** My imaginary band. I was such a synth purist that the thought of someone buying a guitar gets them kicked out. That's a very Lawrence thing to do, isn't it? Mike never bought a guitar. He never bought a synth either, even though we spent almost every Saturday walking around Cardiff music shops looking at them. He did write one song though and it was simplistically brilliant.

**** I usually cycled home for lunch in those days.

***** Synth = Casio MT45.

****** Forty years on I still haven't recorded "I don't want to hold your hand" even though just by mentioning it I am now singing it in my head. Parts of it would be integrated into "She loves me not" in 1993.
